I purchased an Ikea bed for my daughter in late 2007. The headboard snapped off recently. The break occurred where the headboard is drilled for the assembly screws, an obvious design flaw. Upon calling Ikea I learned the following:
1.) The bed is not under warranty.
2.) The color I have is discontinued.
3.) They MIGHT a replacement headboard in the service area but they won't verify this over the phone, I have to make a two hour drive in order for someone to look for the part.
I don't expect premium quality furniture from Ikea, but I do expect a bed to last more than two years and I certainly expect better service than I received. I'm done with Ikea and I will do my best to convince others to avoid them.
