They say you take the biggest risks when you are going down. After IKEA dressers and cupboards were found with a flaw that could kill (and killed!) infants, IKEA launched one of the biggest recalls in furniture history.

The truth - they never paid out refund checks to the millions whose items were recalled!

After spending 35 hours on the phone over 14 phone calls, and being promised the check for all my furniture that was recalled, after 5 months of harassment and constantly being lied to, I'm asking other customers in a similar boat to reach out - let's punish IKEA together. Already a few neighbors have joined hands.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Monetary Loss: $400.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

IKEA Cons: Ikea steals.

Location: 100 Ikea Dr, Paramus, NJ 07652, USA

After years of furnishing my house and apartments w/ IKEA furniture, I have yet to encounter one that did not include a strap and clear and explicit instructions (and warnings) to MOUNT IT TO THE WALL! -- all in easily understood graphics that even the illiterate could follow.

This includes the unreasonably infamous Malm dresser. My heart goes out to the children if those hurt, most especially because on some level, the parents must know they are themselves entirely to blame.

The flaw is designing furniture with drawers that open and selling it to parents who let their children climb on the drawers. One of the solutions in the recall is a bracket to attach the furniture to the wall.

Just another example of manufacturers having to add cost to items because parents can't watch their kids. Another great example is garage door openers. They had safety devices that reversed the door if it hit something (but people failed to check the pressure adjustment) then they added a feature that reversed the door if the cycle didn't complete in a certain amount of time but kids playing with the door still got hit.

The solution to that was to add a 3rd safety system, a set of electric eyes. Too bad the day of parents taking responsibility for their kids are long gone.
