Consumers be aware - Ikea do not do kitchen fits contrary to their advertisements. They use outside contracted fitters. Having recently ordered a kitchen & installation - which I had to pay upfront for - I received a very poor service, with my own goods being...

Annie - do you work for Ikea by any chance???

We paid IKEA for the fitting of our kitchen who did the deal with SIS Holding for the fitting of our kitchen. we also had problems with the fitting and then the massive insurance claim we had to make as the IKEA approved fitter did such a *** job on our plumbing that we had a ground floor flood. Ikea kitchens are fab - but really do not pay them for the fitting.

I have had the same experience. Spent $5500 on kitchen cabinets in March 2011.

Did not start installing until August 2011. Just finished only to find out that I can only return items without receipt for a lifetime! So I guess I'll not be returning anymore kitchen cabinets for a lifetime.

No more kitchen remodel from Ikea again. Very shortsighted!

Ikea in Budapest, Budapest - Garbage product

I purchased a "RINGUM" 100% whool rug in Nov. 2007. In March this year the rubbery binder that holds the fiber and the carrier mat together began to cruble, and the rug started to dissintegrate. I returned the rug to the Budaörs IKEA in Hungary where I purcsased it (and have spent over the years over 10000euros) but was told, that without the receipt they would not take it back. I also spoke to the manager, a guy named Terék Sándor, who gave me the same lip service with the extra information of repeating to me the current applicable legal paragraphs!? I am sure I am not the ony one who purcsased dissintegrating IKEA rugs this past year. Design and quality IKEA of Sweden.

I have a similar rug, though not of Ikea construction, and it too did the same thing. However I found this was tied to my use of the rug.

If you have gotten the rug wet at any period of time, such as cleaning it, and then have not gotten it fully dry, this will cause the rubber backing to rot. It sounds odd to phrase it this way, but basically the rubber begins to dry rot. Animal and human urine can also cause this, as can spills, and drinks.

If you ever get your rugs wet, you should dry them as completely as possible, and keep them from staying in contact with the floor during this time. You want the rubber exposed to the air, otherwise it will not dry properly.

I ordered a bed on Feb. 27 online which they said they could not arrange delivery until after March 6. They said they would call on March 6 to arrange a delivery date, which would cost $120.00 in addition to the bed. I placed the order. On March 3, I phoned to cancel...

Ikea online shopping is piece of ***. I made a purchase on Jan 17 and was waiting for a callback about the purchase (as it stated) but never received a call.

When I called on Jan 24 they said they cannot find the order and after a few too many minutes on the call they said they had a "system glitch" and I was on the "call list" so they can redo the purchase. After waiting for a while they said they cannot redo my order becasue they cannot find some items and they can only refund me.

I am still waiting for the refund! All I can say is that I wish I listened to all the bad expreiences of other Ikea online shoppers and avoided Ikea!

I am very disappointed at Install2u which is the IKEA assembly service in Melbourne. Two men came to install posts from ceiling to floor, but they didn't bring a ladder or stool with them and asked me if they can stand on my dinning chair?

before they start, I asked them if they need any rug or soft material to cover the tiled concert floor, they said NO. Then in the process of installing, the rail between the post fell off, hit the white wooden shelf underneath and also our balcony metal frame, leaving a dent of 5c-coin-size on the frame. The painted chipped off in the dent, i can see metal. Later I found there were actually small areas of damage caused by the felling rail to the shelf and a parts on the side of the shelf.

They said install2u will resolve the issue. Person from Install2u called me and said he does not believe what happened and he said "it is impossible for a rail to cause dent on the balcony frame, you cannot argue about physics!" Then hung up on me. It was very frustrating that every time I tried to tell him what happened, he was talking and won't listen to me. What he said in the last phone call really *** my off.

I'll take further action on this! :(

Ikea products are junk!

Ikea products are junk. They are priced so cheap, because they are cheaply made in other countries. I think some of the products may even be toxic. When they get hot, they smell. I was getting a headache everytime I walked into the room, until I got rid of their junk product. Remember you get what you pay for, and you are getting items that will be tossed in the trash as they fall apart and are not made well. Also, the customer service at Ikea is almost non existant. The employees do not care about the customer, they make their little hourly wages and then go home, so sense of pride in their work.

Don't do it Tom. Remember: You get what you pay for.

If you expect to have those cabinets a long time, you don't want to risk a lousy outcome just to save some $ now. If they don't stand by a lamp, how easy do you think it will be to resolve an issue with 1,000's of dollars of cabinetry?

I hope those don't smell. Those FEMA trailers had partical board that outgassed formaldahyde.

Ikea - Bed board falls apart like cake

A Hopen-style double bed was purchased in May 2006, and in March 2007 the composite board that connects the headboard to the footboard separated, as if it were a piece of cake. The separation is a result of a manufacturing defect in the production of the board. The receipt was discarded in September 2006 however the credit card statement confirms the sale took place in May. One does not expect a defective board; there should be no moving parts, unlike in the instant case. IKEA will not replace the board until one becomes available as a result of another customer (presumably with a receipt) needing the board for a Hopen double bed. Each bed The customer service manager at the Montreal IKEA store will not provide a replacement board for me, even though it is clearly an IKEA product. There are no other providers of these boards. There was no way that an inspection of the goods would have revealed the inherent weakness in the board. The lack of customer service in this instance is mind boggling. I would like to start legal action against IKEA for failure to provide a bed where one was purchased. Are there others in the same predicament with IKEA?

People need to stop being ignorant and uninformed about quality and craftsmanship, especially regarding the horrible over-priced junk sold by IKEA. You are better off to go to Craigslist and get a very nice hardwood piece of furniture made years ago by people who cared.

You can get excellent pieces for very good prices.

I have beautiful furniture made during the American Civil War period and some of the chairs are such nice quality, you can hardly lift them. Use your heads and quit buying lousy junk at IKEA.
