IKEA CUSTOMER DIS-SERVICE

I would be very interested in hearing from any others who have been on the receiving end of IKEA's extremely unorthodox approach to customer service. It begins with a shrug of the shoulders, and a sort of vacant look from colleague to colleague, and then goes on to promise further "investigation" which never happens. Then when no suitable replacement is available.....a flat refusal to refund the item ( 5 weks old ). When a customer ( understandably ) gets rather irrate at this degree of "care", and decides to advise other customers of the quality of goods and after sales service.....What can only be described as a "heavy mob" of what in less enlightened times would have been called "bouncers", who physically manhandle the customer off the premises, whilst simultaneously abusing them verbally.

I bought $2000 worth of kitchen cabinets from Ikea in College Park, MD on July 3, 2009. There were more than 80 items when I picked up and the clerk refused to go over the order with me to make sure I got everything I ordered.

I took the cart outside to my truck and checked the receipt as I load them to my truck. I found one item was missing (metal rail) which worth about $3 dollars. I went inside to complain to the clerk about one missing item but she refused to help. I asked for the manager and she was combative an rude.

She said that Ikea is not the home depot as prices are low so don't expect the same services.

I finally got the missing piece but will never shop here again. Customer service here is a total ***.

Ikea and the " rental "

My husband and I live 10 miles an Ikea store.Came across a bookcase/tv stand in the scratch and dent fully assembled we were in our car but we have a truck and live close so i was going to stay at ikea w/ the stuff hubby going to go get the truck. It was close to closing, ikea suggest we rent a van for only 25 bucks. we tought only 25 bucks - ok - since we saved on the scatch and dent - they ended up billing us 25.00 plus insurance, then we noticed on out credit card a charge of 35.00. i called them, and they said it was gas money. total came to 80.00 and when i called they said they only over charged us by 11.00. none of these other charges were even mentioned when we rented this van, so we did not save any money , it actually costed more.

IKEA is ***

I bought a chair. Got home with it, ready to put it together and guess what, the last piece in the ...severely damaged. Needless to say the whole frame is scratched. Now i have to drive again 50 miles to bring it back. ANd the *** chair doesn't even fit back in the box. Stay away from IKEA. How can they sell such *** products in the US? I can't believe that I even bother to buy something from them. I have heard that their products suck from many people. I did not believe it. Now I do.

I'm totally regretting buying furniture from Ikea, it's not like their products are so incredibly cheap that they have to be made like total ***. Not only did the "screws" start falling apart when trying to screw them in (not to mention the screw head flaked away because the *** thing didn't want to turn into the hole)but at the near-end of completion, I find that the very last piece's holes were drilled misaligned, which will throw the entire thing off balance. ***, Ikea, you suck.

Ikea is like Walmart, you pay for what you get for.

They have certain products for those who have a tight budget and products that are better quality for those who can afford.

As long as you take care of what you buy and don't abuse the furniture it should last quite awhile.

I have never been to an IKEA store, probably because I have seen so much of their *** being resold or given away for free on Craigslist.

Ikea in Dallas, Texas - Looker 16 update

Just wanted to let everyone know that after posting a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Pissed Consumers, I received a complete refund from IKEA in the mail. I am not required to return any of the items either. So I not only got a complete refund, I got the items too! Unfortunately, it is a gift card for IKEA but I am more than pleased with this resolution. A company that wants to stay in business today must please the consumer or they stand to lose their business completely. I guess IKEA was at lease a little concerned! Melissa, maybe you should try harder next time. Persistence pays off!!!

I tried to call the toll free number in the catalog to order over the phone....when the phone rang and rang and nobody picked up....I saw it as a red flag and I didn't bother to try again. For me, this was the first sign of bad customer service....and after reading reviews of customers orders not being delivered or wrong items coming in the mail, I decided not to order. Thanks!

Ikea in Elmhurst, Illinois - They are worse than the cable company

I requested them to ship after 6 as i was at work. But the shipping guys came in at 5. I called my neighbor and asked to talk to the carrier. He refused to talk to me. I was forced to get the product delivered to my neighbor and had to haul it up two floors myself. Customer service did not care as the delivery was not their responsibility but that of an outside contractor. They said it was my problem that I was not at home and the contractor should have charged me twice and delivered it later instead of delivering it to the neighbor. I am not really sure about this websites fascination for the 100 word limit.

I ALSO HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH DELIVERY. I WAS PROMISED A BED DELIVERY ON A TUESDAY (IM SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR!) AND WHEN IT DIDNT COME THEY SAID IT MAY NOT COME TIL FRIDAY.

WELL I WAS PROMISED IT ON TUESDAY SO I WANTED TO CANCEL THE ORDER AND GO OUT AND BUY A BED IMMEDIATELEY FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE, BUT EVEN THOUGH I WAS LIED TO THEY SAID IF I CANCEL THE ORDER ILL BE CHARGED $150. RIDICULOUS, I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN
