This company has absolutely the worst customer service imaginable. Shopped for two cabinets in store.

Needed to cancel another ordered item. Wait time on the one customer service number for the entire US was about 2 hours. Representative very unhelpful. Claimed I had to go back to the store several hours bad driving away to cancel the order.

Store called but the customer resolution extension is hidden. Called another department in store and finally got customer service number. Promised to reorder the items but never called back to confirm. Delivery service called and I tried to cancel delivery.

They claimed it could only be done by calling the one customer service line in the US. Another 2 hour wait.

Finally gave up. DO NOT SHOP IKEA!!!!!!

I love the comments that the IKEA management post. Notice their attitude toward their customers.

Don't shop IKEA. The management and merchandise suck. I used to work there and management view customers as nothing more than another victim to abuse and take their money. Hey IKEA management YOU SUCK, but I know you know that already.

You all will get yours in the end.

IKEA = NO CUSTOMER SERVICE

We bought a book shelf at IKEA in Houston. Houston because we live in San Antonio and we went to Houston to visit family. The book shelf has two boxes. We only walked away with one. NO system there to tell us that we were missing the actual shelves. So, can I go to Austin IKEA (which is a mere 90 miles and not 190 to Houston) to get the second box? NO. Because Austin's inventory would get screwed up. SO we have to plan another trip to Houston IKEA to get the second box. I cannot wait to go there to see if they will even be able to help me. NO one works there. You have to do everything yourself. Do yourself a favor: Go anywhere else to get SERVICE. The price is worth it.

IKEA misleading refund ad for mattresses

IKEA Dublin has big posters about their mattress refund policy hanging around at the Costumer Service and the bed section in their Dublin branch. It says that You can try out a mattress at home and if You're not content with it, You can give it back within 90 days with total refund.That sounds very costumer friendly and tempting. What they don't tell You is that a) You get the refund only in form of a voucher (What the *** do I do with an IKEA-voucher when all I want is a good mattress?) and b) That mattress exchange is only possible ONCE. That means the second time another mattress *** Your back up, You are stuck with that one!If I had known that I would never ever have bought/tried the second one!Answer to my complaint was that I SHOULD HAVE ASKED the service IF I can exchange a second time...WHAT??? What about writing that below the ad in smaller letters so people don't get confused...or are they supposed to......??! I'm done with IKEA!!

Nooope. It does NOT say total refund.

It's the Love it Or Exchange It policy. (notice- not RETURN.) You get a store credit for the price of the mattress usable towards another mattress. That is a corporate rule, and it is veeeery well written out on the signs. What would make you think you can get a full refund on a mattress?

Nowhere else will return a mattress. You realize, they can't do anything with it after you bring it back after sleeping on it, right? Retailers can't resell used mattresses because they potentially carry disease.

They front the cost if you aren't completely happy with the first mattress you get, and you complain that you can't bring back two? Good luck finding a company that will even take back a used mattress and give you anything back.

IKEA sells out its scrap in East Europe ?

Recently we purchased some Hemnes drawer chests in an IKEA in Budapest, Hungary. All the Hemneses were on sale, we bought one small, one middle sized and two of the big one. After the assembly of the small one it turned out that the drawer's front panel does not fit in place, its edge collides with the chest's front panel. Still, this is not the main point.. During the assembly of the first three chests I noticed that some of the eccentric cams can't be tightened "well enough" (by "tightening well enough" I mean what I experienced in the past years during the assembly of other IKEA products, ie. during the tightening of the cam, at a certain torque it "clicks" in place, that is it reaches its stable extremal position, and holds firmly from then on). Instead, while I try to tighten it with a screwdriver, expecting the well known "click", one of the following happens: - either I stop tightening the cam halfway before the "click" - or the cam bends open first, then it breaks - or the dowel is pulled out from the other part, destroying the thread in the wood The problem may be, that the holes of the problematic cams were not positioned precisely at manufacturing. It is enough to be drilled 1 millimeters farther from the edge of the panel, and it already does not allow the cam to swiwel into its stable position. These fastening systems were intended to hold reliably only in their stable position, that means, if the cam is only swiweled halfway, it relaxes in time on every small bump that reaches the furniture. We called the quality staff of IKEA, but he did not confirm the problem. He said the cams just held fine, and if we don't like it, we should contact the civil consumer protection. This was interesting, as he saw it as well, that some cams could be correcly tightened, and turning them until their stable position they hold much more reliably than the problematic ones. He obviously had a good reason to deny our complaint, because if our chests prove to be badly manufactured, it can hardly be a unique fault. At 3 of the 4 chests we've bought the same problem with the cams exists, it makes the general manufacturing fault more likely (the 4th one is not yet unpacked). At a second glance it is clear, why these chests were on sale. Well, here we are now, I don't have a clue what forum I should address with this problem, the IKEA Hungary definitely denies this, although I'm sure I'm right concerning the way of correct fastening of these cams.

Ikea is a flippin joke!!

Our dental office purchased more than 14 thousand in furniture and cabinets and we could not be more upset. The employees were unknowledgable about the products and seemed to be overwhelmed when asked to help. Upon delivery of our order we discovered items duplicated, items that were ordered missing and most of all items we thought to be ordered not even on the order. All in all this purchase has proved to be time consuming, frustrating and my belief not worth the savings! My recommedation would be to purchase from Ikea only items associated for children, and leave the other items to stores more capable of meeting your needs.

Before you purchase anything you look over your order. It's possible the employee messes up, you messed up not checking it, and well, if the order came in wrong, the first employee you spoke with did not get the cabinets out of the warehouse or delivered it.

You probably get mad at the waiter for you terrible food too, huh?

Well Ikea, paying people to oppose genuine buyers is a BANKRUPT strategy.

Instead of paying people to talk-up Ikea, why doesn't Ikea invest in competent staff - people who don't echo what is obviously Ikea management's total disregard for paying customers ?

Ikea, you think you're too big to fail ? Good. I hope you are that ***. It will make your collapse all the more enjoyable to your EX customers.

Now, instead of paying people to trawl the Net trying to silence those customers you've lost, why instead don't you try to lift your game while you're still IN the game?

Do you really think you can survive when so many genuine complaints are levied against you ?

Think about it Ikea. What goes up usually comes down. And the Ikea bubble is deflating more by the second

IKEA Incapable of Fulfilling

IKEA are still a complete shambles in the UK. I ordered two bed bases and matresses. On the given delivery date, one bed base was missing having not been loaded on the delivery van. IKEA gave a new delivery date, which, incidentally was one day outside the required fulfilment time given in the Distance Selling Regulations - so they already were apparently acting illegally. Requesting an earlier delivery they simply stated it couldn't be done and also refused to provide any compensation. The rearranged date is two days from now so would have been 27/08/2011. This morning I had a text saying it will be delivered on 27/08, followed 3 hours later by a phione call saying the item is not in stock and an email saying delivery will be 12th November. Five minutes after that email another one arrived saying delivery will be 16th November. Clearly IKEA don't have a clue what they are doing and are obviously incapable of managing or running warehouse systems. I then attempted to call their Customer Services. On ringing the the number you then have the standard "dial 1 for x, 2 for y "etc. So, 5 for Customer Services which then takes you to another similar menu where you again dial 5 for Customer Services. So, having dialled the customer services number you then have too select Customer Services twice. They clearly don't want you to call. This all too obviously the case when after a few "we're busy, please hold" responses you get a "call centre is now closed" message. This however is yet another IKEA lie designed to stop you calling - ignore that message and you are placed in a ***. So I finally got through to a Customer Services call centre person. Their computer system isnt capable of telling them what has and hasnt been delivered - as far she was concerned the entire order was outstanding. So I told Customer Services what they had already delivered since they didn't themselves know. I think I've now arranged to cancel the undelivered item. I await repayment from IKEA. My advice: wherever you are, stay away from IKEA. They don't fulfil, they don't know their stock, they don't have sufficient internal systems. They are a total shambles to be avoided.

Ikea in Stanton, California - Ridiculous customer service

Brought $350 home media center (Besta) item #201.021.54 at Ikea in West Sacramento. Went home, opened a few days later to build... No hardware in the box! Then, went back to Ikea to get hardware and they wouldn't give it to me.... I asked for a manager who told me the same thing and offered absolutely NO suggestions about how to fix the problem or make me feel like they even cared. We called customer service only to hear the same story, but had the pleasure of listening to the customer service representative yawn repeadedly during thr conversation. Thanks for the $350 firewood! I would never recommend Ikea to anyone I actually like.... Horrible experience.

I'm told if you have the original receipt and it's within 90 days of date of purchase, you can go to their Returns & Exchanges desk w/receipt and assembly instructions to get hardware, should be able to get at time of visit if item's not out of stock.
