In September 2007 I tried to buy a large bedroom Pax wardrobe from Ikea and from day one they were not on stock so I purchased in two Ikeas all material. Installing was no problem (though the compartiments were very heavy as well as the partly-glass Fevik doors)....

Ikea's GREAT customer service

I went to Ikea Pittsburgh yesterday and had THE BEST customer service by Tiffany T in the TV media department. This young lady went out of her way to get me what I needed. When she wasn't able to find what I needed she sold me the floor model at half the cost. Another piece of my order (which was the last beech besta in the store) was found on a shopping cart near the bin it belonged. Without Tiffany T's help I would not have be able to have what I wanted. What a great day when it all works out!!!

OK. Here is our follow up to IKEA Return Policy Sucks.

Fortunatly I am handy with tools. So instead of fighting IKEA I took matters into my \'own hands\' and repaired the deffective futon.

Now it is level no thanks to IKEA. We kept the futon and pledged never to buy...

I tired to exchange a child's Christmas present to Ikea-Utah a few years ago, because it lacked some parts. I wasn't asking for cash, just the missing parts.

No deal. After waiting 40 minutes in the return line, I was turned down for lack of receipt. When I said that I don't need a receipt to exchange a product that did not have all of its parts, they suggested that perhaps I had purchased a damaged product from their as-is returned sale items and now was trying to get a fully functional item without paying full price. So, in addition to selling a defective product, they were now questioning my honesty.

This was not a customer friendly outlook.

That was the last time I ever bought anything from Ikea.

It appears that their business plan foresees the consistent loss of unsatisfied customers. I was happy to contribute to that plan.

Ikea delivery holds hostages

On the 28th of December I went to Ikea to buy a wardrobe for my daughter's bedroom. After a three hour ordeal of waiting at checkouts, then the delivery service *** we were done. The incredibly slow but friendly guy at the counter assured us it would delivered the next day. I have been waiting for 4 days for my "next day delivery". Neither Ikea or Capital, the delivery company know when the delivery will be made. I have been told 3 times that it would be delivered by 6pm that day. Meanwhile I am forced to not stray too far from home for fear they will call as soon as I do. I am a hostage! Job 6033 if someone from Ikea cares to respond! My advice to consumers is think twice before buying stuff from Ikea that needs to be delivered unless you have lots of time and patience to hang around waiting...

OMG-this is similar to us, we bought our son a whole new bedroom(desk, bookcase, bed and wardrobe)on Dec 30th.We have now been waiting 8 wks since our 1st delivery. All our stuff including 2 boxes(of 3) of our Hemnes wardrobe came, and where is the other box?

Who knows-we call them every few days, only to be told they can't help & "after sales service" will call us back.Sometimes they do-mostly they don't and I have to rin again. In 1 month I rang them 10 times. Now, they have told us they won't ring us anymore! Dept Fair Trading are involved now.

It is IKEA Homebush, don't use their home delivery service-they lied to us so many times-we stayed home so often waiting for a box that never came, I even stayed in on Aust Day as they promised it would come then-it didn't. I rang Capital too, NO HELP from them. Such bad service, the line is now discontinued and they won't send us one from VIC or QLD.

We are thinking of sitting in their delivery section with placards! I won't go there again!

Same thing happend to us we bought a sofa bed and other items on the 27 dec to be delivered next day, they granted would be delivered by 6 pm but only arrived at 8pm without the sofa bed. After a week and 5 calles to customer service they still don't know where our sofa bed is and when or if it will be delivered to our house.

We have had to be near home in the remote circumstance they would call us telling the delivery was coming, as they asked us to hod 24 hours every time! This is our only holiday of the year!!! in addition I have my mum coming over from Europe, someone will have to sleep on the floor!!!!! Who will repay us of all the stress and frustration been through?

They are totally hopeless and disorganised.... Good luck to Ikea customers!!!!!

So true! I’m a paying customer and IKEA Centennial, CO, Customer Service Staff are hostile, rude, Punitive, and liars. The Customer Experience Manager Encourages this behavior because that’s what she models!

IKEA fails about installation

Hi, We have bought several furniture for home from IKEA recently. We have signed an agreement to deliver them to home and assembling. The montage team completed the montage of a modular wardrobe and a library case, bu they said that they can not install the shelf, as because they do not have the screws needed to install it to wall. I was not ready for this, because I had very limited time for the installation. They asked me to purchase those from a store, but there was no such store selling screws close to my home. They also added that they do not normally install such wall or ceiling bound stuff, this is not included in their services. Anyway, I called the IKEA transfer and montage desk, they said they do no add the wall screws to the package. I did not get it well 'cos as far as I knew all screws are supposed to be added the package, so we could also assemble it ourselves. Finally, after one hour of conversation they agreed to send another team to install it. One week later my shelf was installed while I was not home (my wife assisted), but I found it installed upside down. Then I saw that there are several mistakes (bubbles) on the coverage of the library case. I took it to another IKEA store, spent another hour, and we could find parts with no fault in the third new package of the same product. This is my story with IKEA.

Ikea won't return their junky merchandise if it breaks.

We spent over $700 at Ikea and one of our purchases was a small dresser. When we opened the box it came with so many parts it was comical until we tried to put it together. About half way through a piece of the junky particle board broke. We tried to return it- I had my receipt, my ID and my Credit Card. The customer service rep wouldn't even look at them. She just said we had screwed up so we were out of luck. Although she was in returns she claimed she did not have the authority to return my money. She offered to go in the back to see if she could find the part. I just left the broken dresser there and will never shop there again. I am out $100 but they are out what was a loyal customer who raved about them. Now they have someone who wants to complain to anyone who will listen. I am pissed off!

Ikea Kitchens

purchased kitchen cupboards from Ikea and from day one they were not stock the door for one of the cabinets, I purhcased these back in Oct. and anm now just getting around to installing but have not been able to secure one of these cabinet doors, they tell you to check stock on line and you are the one who spends the money and chasing them for a part, I am not impressed, even had my daughter check at another store 60 miles away from us, did I mentin we are 35 miles from the nearest store and went there on Sunday past because they told us the door was in stock, got there and nothing. so be careful when you purchase from Ikea get the parts first, o one of the doors was incorrect also right number wrong door, had to return that as well, guess Ikea doesn,t really care they are making money and the amount of complaints doesn,t bother them but sooner or later it will catch them

My wife and I purchased an Ikea kitchen with appliances and cabinets back in 2009. It has been a nightmare ever since.

Almost every appliance has broken down because the contractor Ikea recommended, Birch Associates, did an improper job of installing them. The contractor has not responded to our complaints, and when I've called Ikea customer service they have been very nonresponsive and unhelpful as well. This past week my oven broke down and the repair guy said it was -- again-- due to improper installation by the Ikea contractor. Worse, it was not done to code and could have been really dangerous for us.

And there are many other problems-- the cabinets have started breaking down after just two years, and the countertops are scratched and look terrible. I am never buying anything from Ikea again.
