I'm well aware of those adapters!! I installed a customers faucet and the adapter leaked 5 yrs after being put into service just my luck it was in a womans house whose profession was a mediator..the result was just shy of 120k in damages .even though these failure were known about by the insurance co they wanted to recoop thier loss. I wound up settling for being on the hook for 12k what a currupt system :sigh

Ikea - disastrous customer service

I scheduled a date for shipping, and when the item did not arrive on the day scheduled I called the delivery service - turns out Ikea had cancelled the order since 30 days had passed (even though I had taken the earliest delivery date offered to me), refunding only the item price, not the delivery price. After many hours with senior customer service they agreed to reship the item without charging delivery, and I was to call back the individual with my credit card info. I called her extension 5 minutes later and got voicemail, but no callback. Called again an hour later, and a few hours later again. Called again the next day. Called a week later. Nothing. Finally was able to be transferred to her through another customer service agent, but she denied knowing anything about my case and would not waive the fee to redeliver the item. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

IKEA sucks

I puchased cabinets and shelving from Ikea, 43 boxes and over 600 lbs. I paid Ikea 586.00 for delivery and set up. when they arrived not all the products were there so they assembled what was here after 4 hours they were done. Later I walked outside to my front yard and found that all the boxes were left here for me in my driveway. When I called them they said that they don't haul away the boxes. Now I have left with all this garabe to get hauled away. Ikea did say that I could load them in my car and drinve then to the store they would get rid of them, What afer paying over 500 dollars! what customer service. then then delivered the rest of my order and did not install it, this is up to me.. wow what a rip off !!

Their appliances are even worse than their cabinets. When something goes wrong - and 3 out of 5 of my new Ikea branded appliances failed out of the box or within a couple of days..

they say we don't service them, we have outsourced that.

And they say call the local repair guy - who doesn't have parts - so you wait ten days for a part - and then have to wait all day for a tech who may or may not show up.

Ikea is a disgrace. Anyone who buys an Ikea appliance is asking for trouble.

Last Sunday afternoon I was in the area and decided to visit the Renton Ikea to pick up some household items. The store was jam-packed, but I expected that on a weekend. What I didn't expect is that Ikea wouldn't be staffed for a large crowd of shoppers. I...

I understand having some lanes closed for repair or something but when its a weekend (usually the busiest day for shopping) all the registers should be open. I work in costumer service and on the weekends we are always overstaffed to make sure every costumer is helped in a timely mannner

Ikea quality and service score zero

Goods delivered late and some units broken. After 3 weeks still waiting for replacements. This organisation is in shambles and the quality control is non existent. We won't be using them again. It's clearly endemic within the company and they are demotivated in trying to rectify the situation. The Scandinavians should take this back and sort it out before expecting us to put up with it. Pleased I got this off my chest but hopefully I've got to 100 words now, not quite, so here's a few more, nearly there, just a few more there done it....

Avoid Ikea specially the stuff made in China

Bought 2 Hemnes glass door Black Brown cabinets (item 401.763.42), comes in 2 packages for each unit. The sides, the shelves, the glass door have dents, scratches, unstained parts, wood showing through, it looks like put together from a trash dumpster. And where is it made, of course China. I drove 250 miles with a rented truck to get this and some other stuff. Moral, if you must buy Ikea, please take the time to open the boxes in the store so you can exchange/return any stuff that is not quite right. What a shame !Ikea does not seem to have any quality control.

Bought the exact same glass cabinet, they deliver it to my new house. I did not examine it closely at the first.

After a couple months I finally got around to putting it together, I noticed the underside of the box has a huge hole on the side. The parts inside are all cracked and dented; they are also missing pre-drilled holes.

Ikea's horrible company policies

We bought the expedit shelving for our nursery. We brought it home I put it together in my living room and then carried it into the nursery. Only to find out the Ikea's brand of white is not white. It is a off/ creamy white. It didn't match our white furniture we already had. So took it apart, put it back in the box. The only different between now and 12hours previous is that the box was taped to keep it closed and the plastic bag that holds the hardware was ripped. We walked into customer service to find that we could only get store credit after maybe 16 hours of having purchased the shelves. Because the item is now used. They told us because it was already assembled and taken apart that when it had to be put together again it wouldn't be as sturdy as the first time it was put together so now they had to severely discount it. They don't care if their white isn't white. They told us we should have brought in a drawer from our existing furniture to make sure it matched and for that it was a preference problem and not a product default. But it is false advertising. They label it as white and as long "as it is close enough" then it is ok to label it white. After realizing that they would not budge on giving us our money back for our shelves that were put together for maybe 10 mins. They offered us store credit. We went shopping in this store that is full of stuff we don't need. They only thing we had wanted in this store was the shelves. After awhile we found a piece of artwork that would work well in our house. We started to look for it in the bins, only to find out there wasn't any left. Keep in mind this is 30 mins after the store opened. We found an employee and asked him if they had any in stock because we weren't able to find any. He stated their should be plenty as they stock every night. He looked it up in his computer and found that the had several in stock but unfortunately they were in the warehouse and not on the floor. (They weren't stocked every night) He then proceeded to tell us that they will have them out on the floor tomorrow if we wanted to come back. We told him we live an hour and a half away and can't keep driving back in forth to this store. He stated that their company policy states they are not allowed to get anything from the shelves in the warehouse with a forklift during business hours. We asked for a manager and she told us the same thing. So we asked since they messed up could we get it shipped to us. Nope. We asked if we could pay for it now and pick it up when they get the artwork on the floor. Nope, can't pay for items early that aren't being shipped or assembled. We asked if when we come to the store next if we could call and have them hold one for us so that we wouldn't waste a trip. Nope. They had them in stock but wouldn't get them for us and wouldn't let us do much else. They stated that if we call before we drive there they can tell us how many they have so we can decide if we want to make the trip or not. I feel bad for the people who work their and can't budge from these crazy policies. They don't assemble their furniture to save their costs and they don't give you your money back after you put it together. They don't cater to the customer. Home Depot operates forklifts all the time with people around. But they are such a big company they don't care if they *** off a few people.

I'm unaware of a Home Depot that operates Forklifts with people around. I would consider that a Safety risk.

It's true, even though the item is in overstock, it is not safe to reach during store hours.

Each supplier for IKEA uses a somewhat different white, it is always better to bring something from home to match the colour. Have you seen the Home Depot Paint Department and noticed how many whites there are?

You are absolutely correct. I was told the same thing about a brand new table I tried to return.

Because I removed it from the packaging, they considered the item used and absolutely refused to refund my purchase.

Their return policy is absurd, as is most of their policies. Being such a large company, customer retention is most definitely not their priority.

I tried to return a large rug to an IKEA in Cincinnati a few years ago. They would not take it back.

I think IKEA should tell you items are NOT returnable. The customer needs to know that upfront. I would NEVER purchase a rug somewhere I could not return it.

Needless to say, I have not been back. But I don;t think they are missing my business.

IKEA is wrong... for many reasons.

I have written to IKEA many times to ask them how come the Billy Book Case does not have a height extension in black -- never heard back from them. Not even the courtesy of a reply. Does anyone know why IKEA does not make the height extension in black? I think they should alert customers to the fact that they don't sell the height extension in black, when someone buys the Billy bookcase so that they are not stock with bookcases that's can't make the best use of the product. It is terrible that the Hong Kong office and the Swedish office never even replied to my queries.
