Ikea in Budapest, Budapest - Terrible customer service

Upon our arrival to Budapest, Hungary, we decided to go to IKEA to purchase a household stuff (a large inventory - from the kitchen cooking sets to the crib). We went there with our 8 week- old daughter, and after a consultation with the staff we spent 6 hours in the store writing down each item, its barcode, and its price - as it was suggested by the staff. She said that we do not need to pick a product and carry it around - we just need to write down information about items we want, and take that sheet of paper to the customer service, and these items will be packed and delivered after we will pay for purchased goods and for the delivery. After waiting in a long line to the customer service we were told that such policy applies only for the items on the ground floor, not for the items in the showroom and market hall! Out of our huge list only one item was available on the ground floor! We wasted our entire day, and had terrible experience, though we picked stuff for a few thousand dollars - we will never shop at IKEA again.

Ikea in Atlanta, Georgia - Order never delivered

Orders two mattresses and one foundation online. The delivery company arrived a week later with the foundation but no mattresses. Spent an hour on the phone with Ikea customer service (mostly on hold). Spoke to 2 different people and got nowhere, eventually I was placed on hold again for 40 minutes then suddenly transferred to someones voice mail. left a message but call was never returned. My spend another hour on the phone the next day and was eventually told that they would have to do a warehouse audit which would take 2-3 days. That time has now passed and still nothing from Ikea. We disposed of my sons old mattress in preparation for the delivery of the new one, so now this is a bad situation, and Ikea is totally unhelpful.

Ikea Puerto Rico

I've always been a fan of Ikea in the US, but the Puerto Rican outlet has serious problems. After spending four days to submit an order online (website is another major issue), I was finally able to do it via phone. The order was for delivery. After more than a week, I had heard nothing from the delivery service. Calls to Ikea only resulting in giving me a phone number that did not work or one that went straight to voice mail. I still have not received items I have been charged for. I will have to contest the charges through my credit card company. Ikea's PR rollout has been a total frackup.

Ikea PR is the worst! Especially the one in Carolina.

The employees are some of the rudest and disrespectful people I've ever encountered. They'll talk and joke amongst themselves, look at their phones for long periods of time and flirt with each other all the while ignoring the customers as if they weren't there when there are clearly customers waiting in line to place orders or pick up merchandise.

If you ask them a question they say they'll go find someone to answer it for you and that they'll send them over but no one ever shows up. That is just another level of bad customer service, and I would rather never buy another Ikea product than step foot into that store again.

Ikea in Union, New Jersey - Watch your change

We stopped for food in the cafeteria. Pulled out a 20. When I got back change for a 10 I corrected the cashier, who had stuffed the bill into the drawer before making change. She continued to check people out and make change, instead of immediately calling a manager. Waited for a LONG time. Surprise, when they counted the draw it was correct. This was not a situation where I could have been mistaken, or I would have walked awat. I also had two other people with me. Needless to say it hasn't improved my impression of Ikea customer service.

Ikea in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Former loyal customer

the folllowing is a letter i wrote to these guys late last night. i didnt want to go here... but they have left me no other choice. i have spent 8,000 dollars and there solution is to give me a refund... To Whom It May Concern, I have been a loyal customer for the past 15 years. Every time I come to your stores I leave wanting more. I want you to read the sequence of events and see if they make sense to you? ***Sunday 8/18/13: 11:00am I purchased a new kitchen, and spent a little more than $8,000. At the local store in South Philadelphia, a gentlemen by the name of Seth assisted us. He itemized the items we purchased, and made suggestions where possible. We gave him my home address, as well a shipping address to a warehouse where my contractor was to assemble the cabinets we had purchased. We were told that we can expect delivery on 8/20/13. However some of the items are not in stock, and you can come and pick up those separately. ***Tuesday 8/20/13: 12:30pm I noticed a yellow truck in front of my house, and he was idling. I went outside, and the delivery driver said "IKEA". I realized quickly that he had come to the wrong place. I informed him that he had to go to the warehouse, not the house. He responded, "But this is the address I have." I requested to him, can you please turn off your engine, and he responded, we are leaving anyway. Please contact IKEA. They left shortly thereafter. I signed a paper saying, that I did not accept delivery, and that it was to be delivered to the warehouse. ***Tuesday 8/20/13: 1:00pm As I was on hold trying to get in contact with IKEA, a representative from the local IKEA contacted me, and asked what the address was to the warehouse. As I started to say it, she said it also. She responded, "Thats what I had too." I said "When can I expect the delivery at the warehouse?" Her response, "with-in the hour". ***Tuesday 8/20/13: 1:15pm I called my contractor and told him that IKEA was on there way. ***Tuesday 8/20/13: 2:30pm Contractor called and said .... no show...I called IKEA again, and after being on hold for more than an hour, I was told that the new delivery window would be from 6pm to 8pm. ***Tuesday 8/20/13: 8:30pm After waiting for the delivery to show up we quickly realized they were a no show again. I called IKEA again(third time if you weren't counting). This time i was really upset. I was on hold for again more than an hour. Finally got through.... explained my details to the representative(think his name was ken), and then finally requested to speak to a manager. I was put on hold for an additional 30mins, when finally a manager comes on the line, and says I am on the other line, can I call you back in 5-10mins.. I said fine. I think this Managers name was Brian. ***Tuesday 8/20/13: 11:00pm Guess what? IKEA style, the manager never called back. So I waited on hold again, and when I finally got through at 11.45pm, I asked the representative to connect me directly to a manager this time. Finally I was able to connect with Matt Doehring. He heard me out, and said that he could not do anything until tomorrow, when the store opened. He offered to waive the delivery fee. I said that was unacceptable. I spent over 8,000 at your store, and your only gonna give me 79.99?? I agreed that I would wait until tomorrow for his call between 10am and 11am. That was my whole day. I am extremely disappointed in the service I received today. I was trying to explain to Matt, that I have contractors that were expecting to start working on this kitchen today. I am on a timeline and that I have invested a certain amount of time myself in getting things setup. By Matt saying, if you want .. you can cancel the order is not helping me. The only thing its doing is making me more upset, and tell all of my friends about my lousy experience. Each and everyone of your employees has NO concept of time. Every time I called I would be put on hold for hours at a time. Your managers have no regard for the value of a customer. As a customer I pay your salary. I am completely outraged by the treatment I have received from your company. If we can not come to terms, I will be returning my 8,000 kitchen, and take my business else where! I will be going on facebook, twitter, and other social media sites and inform other consumers of the piece of *** service I got from your company on not just one occasion, but almost 5 or 6 times today. You guys need to wake up and smell the coffee.

This sounds more the fault of the third party delivery guys than IKEA. I recently had a similar issue where the delivery guys just didn't know what they were doing and took forever to get to my apartment. Sadly I think it's mostly out of IKEA's hands once the third party picks up the furniture :/

Ikea in Pompano Beach, Florida - Unethical behavior, did not process my credit when I returned my merchandise

Unethical behavior, I would never recommend buying from this company. The store had no 'local' number. The Delivery Manager promised me a refund the next day, kept my merchandise, and did not process my refund. I ended up speaking with a "Sue' who said to me rudely "well you shouldn't have left without your merchandise..." that was her solution. HOrrible experience, plus they rip you off with the delivery ($99) and the assembly charges (from $250 to $650) whatever pennies you save you end up paying. Employees hang around talking to each other refuse to help you. Save your $$, buy @ either City Furniture, Walmart, or any other American store. My next step is FTC, BBB complaints & attorneys and yes, I'm writing on this review the names of the people I spoke to. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible!

Ikea in Los Angeles, California - Ms JR

WE purchased numerous items at IKEA at College Park MD. We received a letter stating that 3 of the 4 chairs we ordered we not in stock and could not be delivered. They were in stock the day we ordered and paid for them at the store. They enclosed a gift card to cover the cost of the three chairs (not including the assemble, pick and deliver fee) and asked us to call to discuss options. We have called the 301 345 6552 number three times a day for the past 3 days and all messages go to voice mail and no one calls back.. We don't want just one of 4 chairs and don't want an IKEA gift certificate...I am PISSED

Ikea in Jacksonville, Florida - Worst customer service ever experienced

My wife and I traveled 2 hours to visit your store in Orlando Florida yesterday dedicating an entire day with one purpose and goal, and that was to purchase an entire bedroom set for our house. We have always spoke highly about Ikea and recommended it to everyone we know, however after the lack of customer service at this location, the rudeness of your employees, and the failure to both listen and assist us in any way we will no longer be shopping with Ikea. The experience we had yesterday with your staff and BOTH managers was the worst experience we have had at ANY public place! After spending over 3 hours walking the store, filling our cart and picking out the items we wanted we finally made it to the warehouse level where we were to pick out the pieces we needed for the Bed and dresser. At this point we were planning on spending over $1000 in your store, but after it was all said and done we left spending $0. We had written down all of the numbers for all of the pieces and started filling the flat beds with our items needed. We only had one left when we realized that what we needed was just on the 3rd shelf....just high enough that we couldn't pull it down. At this point I went to the desk to ask for assistance. The employee there asked what I wanted (With the attitude that I was wasting his precious time) I told him that I needed help, he looked up the part, and then informed me that it was not available. I informed him that it was only on the 3rd shelf and I just needed a hand getting it down. His response was "I won't be able to help you, better luck next time, come back tomorrow and maybe it will be lower". I was completely shocked and offended by this response! A "Customer Service" person that didn't even want to help me or even attempt it! I walked away feeling like a worthless customer.....returned to my isle to see if I could find it somewhere else.....with no result. So then I asked another employee for help hoping that I just got one bad employee the first time......I asked him for a manager. He radioed the manager and over his radio I hear the manager say "I just talked to "That Guy" and I won't help him...tell him to come back tomorrow" Really??? I am referred to as "That Guy" not a customer? At this point I am getting very upset.....I just drove 2 hours, spent 3 shopping in your store and now nobody even cares to help me with 1 item! So I asked for another manager, still with hope that someone in your company cares about a customer that is going to spend $1000 or more! This manager was even worse. She point blank told me "There is nothing I can do for you"....while looking right at the product only an arm length away! We pleaded, asked, begged even and she kept on repeating the same single line...."There is nothing I can do for you" So, because your staff, and your company would not take one item down from only 7 feet in the air you have now lost over $1000 in sales.....like your company even cares I am sure. After multiple attempts to find another solution your manager did inform us that It could be shipped.....for another $200! Let me ask you this.....if you went to a store and saw the product you wanted....could even touch it lets say....and this happened to you, would you accept a $200 shipping fee because they wouldn't help you take it off a shelf? NO.....but of course if you are an Ikea employee you would think that this was just all ok just like driving another 4 hours the next day is just all ok as well! To top it off......because I was so visible upset.....your manager called security to escort us out of the building. Great job Ikea........Great job caring for your customer. I don't expect a response to this email because apparently it is your "Company Policy" to not care about your customers that drive a long distance to shop at your store, or even plan on spending hard earned money with you. We went to Target.....and they were happy to help us get our product that was "Not where we could get it down".....and even loaded it in our car for us. You will not see us again, and I will make sure to post this everywhere I can......I am also going to contact the BBB because this was by far the worst experience I could have ever imagined......Period. You have lost a "Customer".....like you even care.

I feel your pain and have been there before myself , but IkEA is a cash and carry business. The third level that you referred to is not shoppable and is storage and per a nationwide company policy no one is to get anything from those levels (which is normally done via forklift ) during business hours. They could not have gotten your product for you

Ikea in Aurora, Illinois - Incoveneint and poor customer service

Full name: Asim Ahmed Contact phone number: 630-338-7870 Location of your IKEA store: Bolingbrook, IL, USA Your Question: I wanted to buy Article Number: 702.430.38 (FRIHETEN Corner sofa-bed) and went to buy this at store: Bolingbrook, IL, USA. I checked in the afternoon today (8/18/2013) around 2:30pm and then went to the store. By the time, I went to the store somebody else had bought that one piece that was left. I then went to the customer service staff at the store and they told me that the same sofa might show up tomorrow (Monday). I enquired if I could put a hold on the piece they were going to get tomorrow but they told me that I COULD NOT put a hold on that the day before. Apparently I have to call the day I want to buy to make sure it is in the store before heading out and drive 16 miles to get to the store. According to the store I could not even put a hold on the day of when the item would be available again. Which If I am unlucky, could again be bought by someone else? They also cannot sell me an item that is not in the store. What a bummer….They do not even sell using a phone calls…bummer bummer bummer…. I called IKEA’s toll free number and enquired the same but they told me the same memorized story. Apparently IKEA does not follow the conveniences that other stores provide, example: Walmart, HomeDepot, Best Buy to name a few. Where one can buy an item online and have to shipped to a store close to your home. IKEAS customer service is cheap and pathetic and not customer friendly. I am really disappointed and will not buy anything else ever from IKEA, they are cheap and they give their potential customers run around for nothing. Asim
