IKEA Cribs are TOXIC

All the IKEA cribs have their mattress base made of fiberboard which emits Toxic VOC. These toxic gases can cause severe conditions including cancer in babies. IKEA MELBOURNE

Just waisted 1 1/2 hours of my life at customer service Melbourne Ikea, we returned three doors from kitchen cabinets which were peeling on the edges, explained to 4 people the problem then eventually go to speak to the manager , again explained the problem and that water damage would not sit on the bottom edge of a door and anyway they are raised cabinets ? , they refused to replace and requested photos of the kitchen , at this point I was less than happy to be kept waiting then told to bring in photos for them to decide on a outcome , only upon leaving very dissatisfied did the penny drop they were worried should the colour match be a problem then I would ask for all to be replaced. One other comment which I allowed pass without comment was they asked are they near dish washers or sinks ???, so what they are saying in effect is IKEA Kitchen cabinet should not be installed adjacent to Sinks or Dishwashers ??? fit for purpose maybe not ? next step letter I guess , and never a customer again IKEA

Ikea - Poor home delivery service

I placed an order for over $2000 worth of furniture. Received emails from IKEA that furniture had been shipped to and arrived at local delivery company. "Local" delivery company is located nearly 200 miles away -- despite the fact that I live in a city of over 40,000 people. Delivery company was supposed to call me to arrange for delivery within 3 days - delivery company never called. I followed up with delivery company, they said that they only deliver to my area once a month! I followed up with IKEA Customer NON-service. After waiting on hold over 20 minutes, IKEA said tough luck, we can't do anything about it. We won't be of any help to you. I certainly didn't experience any of the "friendly" customer service that IKEA says they have. :-(

Ikea - Poor Delivery Service

I ordered a matress and bed on Nov 6. It is no Nov 20. The set was supposed to be delivered on the 19th. I NEVER received a call that the delivery would be later. Now I find that the delivery company has 10 to 14 days to deliver the set AFTER they receive it...which was the 19th. Terrible communication and service. IKEA makes it very difficult to complain. My computer will not send the email using their email address...although I can send to every other business I use...LOWES, HD, AMAZON, etc. The phone service does not have a complaint/customer service for internet orders. I went to the online order department (to place an order) and waited for an agent.

I work for ikea and when it comes to online or over the phone orders it's a third party company. If you have a complaint about the situation try the new number 1-888-888-IKEA(4532) option 5 option 5 than option 2

Bed Bugs in IKEA Wooden Bunk Bed

We bought a wood bunk bed for my son from ikea and assembled it and loved it until a week went by and we noticed our boy having multiple bites all over his body. We were confused and didnt know where they were coming from. A another week went by and he was still getting bit and we identified the bites as bed bug bites. We searched everyhwere while cleaning and vaccuming everything. We thought for sure they were in his mattress but low and behold they were in all the slats and screw holes of the ikea bunk bed. Never never never again will i purchase anything from ikea, i would rather pay 1,000 for a bunk bed instead of 200 and house infested with bed bugs and a little boy afraid to go to bed.

IKEA LACKS DELIVERY SERVICE

oK... Day 1 - the furniture is meant to arrive - apparently the following day - all organised and of course paid for! I was to receive a phone call before they would arrive. Well, that was way too easy for ikea's delivery service ANC. I waited on the 'planned' delivery date' - no phone call, no furniture. Got a phone call the next day that the furniture was mistakenly taken to Canberra. ... Sure - anybody would make a mistake with NSW and Canberra on the address - simply justifiable!! NOT!! Surpisingly the furniture arrived. However - one piece of furniture had to be taken back - picked up by ikea. I called to arrange things. the person on the phone couldn't find my receipt in the database. As this 'search' was taking forever, i asked her to call me back. Said she would - surprisingly she didn't!! About 2 weeks later..... As such i travelled to ikea to speak with someone in person - in fact i had 2 people assisting me. I was at last assured that all was organised for a pick up - they apparently even spoke to the driver!!! Yahoo - things were happening... Well... that was 2 weeks ago... and since then i have been on hte phone to ikea & ANC who have given me the run-around, lied to me that it was organised and in the system, lied to me about that several times. Nobody really knows what they're doing. Still waiting.... My advice is to at all costs AVOID ANY DELIVERY SERVICE FROM IKEA - DON'T EXPECT REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE, DON'T EVER TAKE WHAT THEY SAY AS TRUTHFUL and if you have an alternative furniture store - use it. "There is always another choice. Go where people are professional and organised - hmm... how ironic - given they way they advertise their merchandise.

I am having the same problem, from what they have said they are having problems with their systems. But this seems to have been happening for the past 2 weeks!

I am going to go to the ACCC, would be great if we could get a big group together on this because from what I have seen recently these are not isolated incidents!

Ikea - Horrible experience

I went to the store to purchase bathroom cabinets and used the product numbers purchasing with a $275 gift card. At the time of checkout the applied a charge of $275 instead of applying a credit. I had to wait at the service desk to get the $550 owed to me. After receiving a credit slip I kept checking my bank account and no credit. I called and they told me it takes 7-10 days to get my money back. They made the error and yet I had to wait for the reversal. I was short 2 boxes for the furniture and had to return to the store for additional boxes. Very little to no assistance in the store or for loading boxes. No instructions for assembly was included. I had to go online to get the instructions. I can assure you I will never go into the store again and I intend to warn others.

Ikea Sydney - the most inefficient and shoddy customer experience I have ever had

I've just had the worst experience of my life with Ikea Sydney - it's brought me to tears - and I'm left with nothing to sleep on, cook with, eat and drink from, having to sleep on the floor, after days of frustration trying to make them simply deliver the items I paid for, with a delivery I paid for, and assemble furniture I paid for them to assemble. 1. I tried to get through to anyone at the Tempe store. I have spent 62 minutes holding on the phone over two days, waiting to speak to someone about the purchased I'd made, the delivery and assembly service. I failed to get through to anyone, and not for lack of trying. I therefore had to spend $39 getting to the Tempe store again to speak to the customer services desk. Also, incidentally, you have to press "3" twice to get through to deliveries / installations / finance, and even then you don't get through to that, you get through to various options that are unrelated. The lack of response from anyone at the store is unprofessional and clearly communicates that you do not care about your customers. The telephone system is illogical and inefficient. 2. In-store, the staff didn't understand how the shopping list worked in two departments (living room and dining). They told me that they couldn't help me and didn't know what the shopping list was. I had to point out to them that online it clearly states that, once a shopping list is put together, a co-worker in-store can help activate it. They seemed baffled by this and it took me three attempts to get them to do what your website says they should. 3. When pulling together the shopping list and using the "pick up" service, which I paid for, the co-worker failed to point out that I needed to order slats for the bed. I had to go back and get it separately. 4. The assembly service is a shambles. I was told by the co-worker that booked it that you had to book it four days in advance, but that it didn't actually mean that the service would be provided then. Even the co-worker admitted he thought it was a nonsense, and completely inefficient. 5. The home delivery service charged me $2/day for two days of holding my items just because they couldn't deliver immediately. The person I dealt with on Thursday was rude and unhelpful, and I await to see what state my purchases arrive in, and if they all make it. 6. The assembly service texted me at 5.45pm on Friday 9th November, to let me know they would contact me in 24 hours to advise when I would have my items assembled. They failed to do so. I called them and left two messages on Saturday evening (they were meant to be open and taking calls until 9pm). They were not answering calls, and the phone was going through to an answer-service. I didn't receive an answer on Saturday evening. I called again on Sunday, and left another message. I went in-store to cancel the assembly, at my own travel cost and time, because I couldn't get through to anyone to do it on the phone or online (I tried online too). This is hands down the worst service I've received in my entire consumer life. I didn't know service could ever get this bad until now. 7. I went to give feedback on the machine at the exit, but that was broken and no-one had bothered to put a sign up or take note of the fact it wasn't working. Says it all really. Various machines in that area were out of order, adding to the shambolic impression the store gives as a whole. 8. Then, to add to this, the worst experience of all. Today, when I was expecting my delivery 8am-12pm, I called just after midday as the delivery hadn't arrived. I was on hold for over 30 minutes, got through to someone, who told me my delivery hadn't left the warehouse and wouldn't be made today. That means I have nothing to sleep on, nothing to cook with, nothing to eat from or with, nothing to drink from etc. It also means that the person I had to do the assembly (as I'd had to cancel the assembly organized with you as you couldn't confirm when it was happening), had to be cancelled, but it was too late to cancel without paying. So I'm now $150 down, with no furniture, and will have to pay him again when it does eventually get here. This company is playing with people's lives. Much of what they sell are staple items that are needed for basic existence. People depend on them to supply and deliver these items when they say they're going to, and people pay for that privilege. They don't give a *** about their customers, and how they operate is not only unacceptable, but immoral and downright criminal. I'm at my wit's end. M

I am having the same experience after ordering delivery of a bed 2 weeks ago. I had 2 days off work to wait for delivery but after calling to say nothing had arrived they informed me that 'oh actually it won't be coming today'.

I just had a delivery an hour or so ago, finally! But guess what? It's the wrong bed!

Not sure where to go from here. Am looking into the department of fair trading.

Did you need a tissue for those tears?????? It's called life, get over it!

You have a roof over your head & running water.

Homeless survive on a daily basis without the items that are delayed! So no, they are not necessary for existence!

IKEA Homebush bay sucks at home delivery

I've ordered two mattresses from ikea and opted for home delivery. Paid 60 bucks and I was promised that I would get the delivery on 6th nov 2012. I took an off from office only to receive a call with a lame excuse and scheduled a delivery date which was two days later, 8th Nov 2012. Now, they didn't meet the delivery even the second scheduled date. I took off to my office for second day in a week and those irresponsible *** didn't even bother to call me up on the update. Right now I am in a call to customer care and have been waiting for almost 25 min. No body bothered to attend the call!!! I think I will never ever go back to IKEA Homebush bay. This is a lesson.

Oh yes -- Homebush Ikea

A few questions for management at Homebush Ikea (am I naive in expecting there to exist at least SOME claiming pay in managerial capacity, even though the place is like a badly-run monkey house ?)

Questions:

* Does Ikea management believe the sight of many unshaven, slovenly male Ikea staff is an enticement to buy ?

* Has Ikea management decided that 'service' and 'courtesy' have no place in today's retail environment ?

* In these times of high unemployment with so many applicants from whom to choose, has Ikea management decided to scrape the bottom of the employment pool, just for fun and to exclusively employ losers with no respect for themselves or their employer and ZERO respect for paying customers ?

* Does Ikea management hold staff competitions where those who insult and provoke customers the most are awarded some sort of prize ?

* What is the point of the commercials, the advertisements, the glossy brochures when Ikea staff apparently compete to see who can create the worst possible shopping experience for paying customers ?

* Is the guy lurking in his own half acre patch down on the ground floor on drugs -- or is that hyped-up, non-blinking, aggressive performance attributable to some other reason ?

* Do Ikea staff work for nothing ? Is that why they take such delight in provoking and insulting customers ?

Ikea and particularly Homebush Ikea is like a trip through Hades, culminating in unsettling staff behaviours and attitudes to be confronted at checkouts and service desk. We had our ' Homebush Ikea experience' today and won't be repeating it in a hurry OR recommending the place to anyone we know. Homebush Ikea will NOT be getting any more of our money, trust me. We'll buy the bare minimum from Tempe now. And if Tempe is the same as Homebush then that's IT, Ikea -- you will not see another cent from us or anyone we know

Bad enough Aussies have to pay roughly TWICE as much as people in other nations (explain please ?) but we are treated like excreta into the bargain

Hey, Ikea, keep up. Retailers worldwide are collapsing. So let's hope the global recession hits your cardboard and foil business right out of the arena very soon

Read this twice, non-visible Ikea management. Yes, YOUR job might disappear from under you soon. And it's people like us - people with money in their pockets whom you treated like dirt - who'll put YOU on the unemployment lists

Now YOU have a 'nice day', huh

Ikea customer service, by far the worst I have seen

I placed an order on their website for a mattress and base. They only delivered the base after saying that the entire order is ready on the day. So there goes my day waiting for half the order. After calling their customer service which is literally a 40 minute wait no matter when you call, they said that someone will get in touch with me in 24hrs regarding the mattress and gave me an another order no. No one has called and its been 4 days. Finally, I got through customer service again and the person was pretty indifferent about the time I have wasted and said that I to restart the process because apparently I didn't write in on the delivery notice that I didn't receive one item in spite of calling them immediately after their screw up. I am still on hold for more than 2 hours now. They have their call center in NY maybe they need think about another offshore call center. No wonder other companies are moving their call center offshore since it seems like american call center people are just too lazy and not up to the so called western standards.

Ikea brooklyn home delivery is terrible!

The *** that shipped over my lamp broke it and now it is useless. The delivery men have no consideration what so ever for your things. They do not know what handle with care means! Please do not use there home delivery service. It is not worth paying one hundred dollars for the service when they don't care if they break your items. The item was purchased in the As-Is section, and I bet they won't want to return my money. I would have to lugg the *** broken thing there. Never again will I use there delivery service. Please stay away it is better to look for an outside delivery service not affiliated with Ikea!

IKEA - the worst customer service imaginable

I drove the hour to the closest IKEA store, bought a couch, waited 20 minutes and was brought a cart with two boxes on it, one I presumed was the couch, the other the cover. After driving the hour back home I opened my boxes to discover I had only part of the couch. Keep in mind the lady at IKEA gave me a cart and said "here is your couch," not "these TWO carts have your couch." My wife was with me and she heard the same thing. I called immediately, and as the other person on this site to have dealt with IKEA noted, no one is impowered to do anything. The woman in customer service said someone would call me within 72 hours with a case. In exactly 70 hours I got a call and a message. Returned the call and she put me on hold and the call was dropped. I have two cell phones so I called back on another and, no kidding, I suffered through a wait of 29 minutes before someone answered. I again explained my predicament and was told to hold on. Again I was dropped. I went through this for exactly 7 dropped calls and 2 hours and 51 minutes before someone said "we have been having lots of dropped calls today." I could go on, but basically IKEA said, and I quote, "We do not have the responsibility of making sure our customers leave with all that they purchased." They blamed me. Unbelievable.

Ikea BayrampaÅŸa (Istanbul-Turkey) sent me broken cover and they did not care customer.

I am writing from Istanbul. On 11.10.2012 i bought a bookcase and covere for it from Ikea Turkey BayrampaÅŸa Office, they sent me materials on 13.10.2012, but cover was broken. On Sunday I called them and informed them of broken cover. They told me that they would return to me in 48 hours but as of 16.10.2012 morning no body returned to me. Then i called them, after half an hour i was able to reach a person finally. My complaint is that after sale, ikea does not provide qualified service in Turkey, Ikea does not care about client rights. For my problems they did not call me. Always I tried to call to solve my problem. Ikea BayrampaÅŸa did not apologize for all the unjust, unkind treatment. Since i could not find any responsible person from Ikea BayrampaÅŸa Office, I want your kind help to warn the ikea office seriously and i request for compensation. Also i recommend you to urge them behave like professional and apologize as soon as possible.

Ikea - Paid an assembly service that never happened

Hi, I bought a Bed frame and a headboard the 1st of October 2012 with a assembly service for a total of more than $1000. After more than a hour of wait to be able to get our boxes we thought we would not go through any other disapointment. We were wrong. The provider (install to you) was supposed to contact us in the next 24 hours after the purchase to make an appointment, but after several days and no sign of a possible assembly service we had to build everything by ourself. I am asking for the full refund of $165 for the assembly service that never happened! Kind regards, Thomas Dublanc thomasdublanc@hotmail.com
