A few months ago I purchased kitchen cabinets for use in remodeling a home. The cabinets have some nice features and reflect the price you pay for them. Since I live a great distance from an ikea store I purchased cabinets for several different uses in the house (not in the kitchen, didn't care for quality). Delivery delayed day after day and no one calls / communicates to let us know. I have placed a scheduled delivery order from Ikea Online store and they sent me an email mentioning that the order will be delivered on another day. And when I call the customer service after keeping me on hold for more than an hour a representative mentions that they cannot change the delivery date that they mentioned in the email. IKEA are rip-offs. They charge outrageous amounts for delivery and re-scheduling of a delivery. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN!

There is very long wait to pick up Furniture at East Palo Alto location . It taking up to TOW hours! They claim that they picking orders to fulfill from a *** randomly which does not make sense, it should be first comes first served. On any rate, it is unacceptable to make customers wait for their order.

After waiting 30 minutes at furniture pick-up, manager says it will be another 20 minutes. Instead of an apology, the representative tells me that because it's a Sunday, that's to be expected. Wow! My toddler couldn't take it any longer, so we ended up getting a refund. What a waste of time!!!

IKEA restaurant changed a food substitution policy to no substitution ;(!!! So you order meatballs or salmon and cannot have the side it comes with(potato based) Oh that's ok you have to Buy the side of veggies in addition to the entree So since many people cannot eat the carbohydrates without taking extra medicine or cannot eat them at all you are costing them extra money and increasing Ill Will
We installed two of these mirror vanities in our master bathroom, exactly 1 year later the light on one started flickering when the cabinet door was opened, and soon stopped turning on completely. The problem seems to be due to a wire connecting the light that crimped when the door was closed; the wire casing has split at that location. I placed an on-line order today for furniture with Ikea. About an hour after the purchase I changed my mind and tried to cancel the transaction. I COULD NOT DO IT. They wouldn't allow it. There is no option on-line to cancel. The only way is to call their 888 phone line and go insane while you listen to their recorded sales pitch and earthy crunchy PSA's on loop for hours (kill me now!). Third time in the Brooklyn store in one week. Only to arrive to find out the piece I need is out of stock. Already spent over 1K and really disappointed that the reps can't guarantee any stock even if we call ahead of time. It's not easy getting around in NYC! They also won't waive the delivery fee. Had two IKEA wardrobes delivered, having paid up front for both, and for delivery installation. But, because of latest law suits, etc., the installers were not able to assemble my units (refusing to tie them into the ceiling joists in my bedroom). I bought a L shaped sofa for 2000 dhs with 150 dhs for assembly. The service guys assembled it incorrectly. Wrong side L. My husband told them to change it they said that the upholstery will be damaged. So my sofa is now a damaged one. My whole house is ikea. They did not even seem sorry for the wrong. I bought a 4 drawer chest and it fell apart in no time at all because drawers bottoms and chest back were made with thin cardboard. Then, there was a recall because of chests tipping over and people injured. Last year I bought the Hemnes 6 Drawer set for a guest room for $200. I thought it would last because it would not see much use. Was I ever wrong. Four out of the six drawers already have the bottom falling out. I was able to put 3 back together but the fourth will need more work.
