Ikea - Awful shipping practices for online purchases

On January 26th I purchased a few items online. Over 2 weeks later when the estimated shipping date came and went I called. I was told that the items had been pulled but not yet shipped. Really? You still haven't sent them out over 2 weeks after I'd placed the order? I told them I wanted to cancel the order, but was informed that because the items had been pulled from the shelves that I could not cancel. I let them know I would contact Visa and cancel my order that way. Within minutes I received a shipping tracking notice from Ikea. Hmmmm, interesting. I thought I'd give them another chance. Well, here we are several days later and the tracker still states that a label has been created, but that the items have not been taken to the shipping office. How long does it take to ship a handful of things, and if you're not going to send them out in a reasonable time frame then why are you preventing me from canceling my order?

Ordered $2,000 worth of furniture dorm IKEA on line. It was supposed to be delivered 2/202015.

Still not hear. IKEA says call the trucking company and the trucking company they never picked up the order. Call back to IKEA and the no nothing!!!!

Call back again and they say the systems are down.

Dont't trust IKEA ... They don't know what they are doing.

IKea - NOT the great company it once was!

What a horrible corporation. Three weeks ago, while shopping for our son's room, we purchased a number of items , including a light kit from IKEA - driving the 55 miles back home, our son was excited to have a better lighting system for his study area...... Instead, the light kit didn't function from the moment we opened the box. We immediately called the "customer service line and were promised an immediate replacement. Since then, we have called FIVE times with FIVE "Ticket" numbers - each of which was "lost". All we wanted was a replacement - Instead, I have to return item in person and will VERY LOUDLY announce that IKEA is THE worst company to do business with and I will NEVER waste another penny in their horrible stores. I hope the rest of SWEDEN doesn't operate with this *** attitude. Perhaps that's why their Volvo car company was purchased by the CHINESE!

IKEA is a nightmare

I am surprised IKEA still has so many customers. It is the worst consumer experience I ever had. They always are missing parts of your order, don't refund for this which is their error and deliver stuff that you didn't even order and then you are stuck with a huge box in your living room. It is the most poorly run company out there and there is a huge problem with their supply chain. Executive heads should roll... They need new blood that knows what they are doing or they should be shut down. I, for one will never shop there again.

IKEA Terrible customer service and product availability

We placed an order for all new cabinets from IKEA. They ran out of drawer faces as we placed order. IKEA won't ship the item and has been uncooperative in helping get the missing piece. We've tried contacting the closest store and warehouse and get the run around. Complete chaos. They won't reserve pieces or guarantee they will ever be available. We now have a $4000 kitchen cabinet set with missing parts. IKEA representative made a comment that $4000 is such a small order he has more important customers who order more and acted like I was wasting his time.

I have exactly the same issue. ONLY, my kitchen is already torn out, the missing piece is the corner cabinet, that is back ordered in Denver until AUGUST (it is May now).

I can't install my granite without it, which means I can't install my sink. I'm looking at 3 MONTHS with my kitchen torn out and unable to complete because of this missing piece. Their distribution system is totally screwed up.

The piece is in Dallas, but they won't ship between stores.

DO NOT tear out your kitchen unless you are SURE they have all of the parts, and the only way to be sure is to actually go to the store and buy EVERYTHING at the same time.

I HAVE HAD A MATTRESS FROM IKEA FOR TWO YEARS, THREE WEEKS AGO OUT OF NO WHERE A BULGE STARTED TO DEVELOP IN THE AREA WHERE MY LEGS USUALLY REST. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET A CALL BACK FROM THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY TELL YOU THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE A CALL BACK IN 24 TO 48 HOURS; I NEVER DID AND NEITHER DID MY GIRLFRIEN. SO I TOOK IT DIRECTRLY TO THE STORE IN SUNRISE FLORIDA. AN EXTRMELY LARGE MAN WHO REMINDED ME OF FAT *** FROM THE MINI ME MOVIE TELLS ME THAT THE WARRANTY IS VOIDED BECAUSE THERE IS A SLIGHT TINT AS IF THERE HAS BEEN SWEAT. I REQUESTED THE TERMS OF THE WARRANTY BUT THEY WERE DENIED TO ME AND I WOULD ONLY BE HANDED A HIGHLIGHTED PORTION THAT STATES THAT ANY!!! STAIN WILL DENY THE WARRANTY. (THEY GIVE WARRANTIES OF 10, 15, 20 EVEN 25 YEARS) ITS ALL BULL-***. THEY WILL LOOK FOR ANY EXCUSE NOT TO GIVE YOU THE WARRANTY, NOR EVEN STORE CREDIT. Ikea - Bed frame - the bane of my life.

I recently moved to America from London and all I wanted was to have a bed to rest my head. I bought a Brimnes bed frame which had drawers included as I thought that would be useful for me as sotrage space is tight in the new apartment. Little did I know the bed frame was impossible to set up, the screws do not fit in the correct holes, the wood is such poor quality that even if the nail did get it in would not stay, the drawers do not fit together well either. I am currently sitting on a bed that at any minute may break and my clothes still in my suitcase. It did not come cheap either and I have to now live with this disgrace of a bed for the next 6 months, thanks Ikea.

Ikea - Worst experience of my life

BUYERS BEWARE I am usually a pretty happy IKEA customer, but this time they took it too far. I purchased a $400 INGATORP dining room set (which came in two boxes). Upon delivery, the second box (leaf extension) was damaged. I took pictures, emailed, attempted to call, and went to the store, but nobody was willing to help. I am literally at home on Christmas with a table that had a defect that IKEA is unwilling to restore/refund/exchange for a new one. Literally the worst (next to the old Bellsouth) customer service I've ever received. Very disappointed with my experience. Will likely never shop there again

Why I Fell Out of Love with Ikea

I'm a loyal Ikea fan, am talking about a 30 year love affair as I'm European. I ordered a kitchen during the kitchen event and had to order some more cover panels and hinges. Lamar first of all made the mistake of charging me twice earlier this year and this resulted in weeks of phone calls to get the refund. I gave up and re-ordered during the Fall 2014 kitchen sales. I had a few items left to order and both Lamar and a supervisor named Marshall (from "The Escalation Team") refused to give me 20% off. I reminded them that Ikea is in fact a tax evading company that is registered as a non-profit in the Netherlands, that I am a single, disabled female with a spinal cord injury who could not have anticipated needing hinges and the cover panels earlier, and that the Akurum kitchen soon will be discontinued. There will be no Akurum kitchen from February 2nd, 2015. Both Lamar from Kitchens and Marshall from Escalation refused to honor 20% on a $200 dollar order for which I would have paid $99 to ship. So there, I have a nice kitchen, not fully complete, it is the day before Christmas and Ikea is not flexible nor interested in making a deal. Lamar admitted he had given people a 20% discount if they ordered within a 2 week time frame after the sales event ended early November. So through the computer system it is possible, they just won't do it. I like my kitchen but will never again get furniture or anything else from Ikea, on account of lack of customer service and overall tardiness when it comes to returns. I had one return that was supposed to be scheduled for a pickup, and have yet to hear from them despite having paid the fee. That is another thing that bugs me: they are very quick to process your money but when it comes to returns whether from mistakes or returning new in box items they are one of the worst companies in the US. It's a pity as I love their products. But dealing with Lamar and Marshall and the dozens of other people and hours and hours of phone calls left me disillusioned and slowly but surely, I fell out of love with Ikea. I give them an F for customer service, and a A for products. That can't be a sustainable business model, but keep in mind they evade taxes by being registered as a non-profit. I truly believe they don't care.

Not only did they charge my credit card way before my order even shipped, they never shipped one of my items. After contacting them (and holding for 48 minutes + on multiple occasions), I was finally told my table would ship. Well low and behold, the table showed up, and it was the wrong one. It was about $80 cheaper than the one I had already paid for. I called them. They said it would take 10-15 days for a refund. It's been 13 days and I still have no refund, nor (after multiple email attempts), has anyone sent me a return label to send back the WRONG table. I am sick of trying to contact them and I want my money back and the wrong table gone. I just filed a complaint with the BBB and will be filing a dispute with my credit card company as well. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM ONLINE. THEY ARE HORRIBLE!

IKEA customer service is one of the worse out there. For the past year, I made close to $10k of purchasing from IKEA Brooklyn. Every single time there was a problem with the shipment: first, it delivered the wrong product, second- time of the delivery. The automatic recording was left yesterday afternoon, saying that my delivery is scheduled for today, between 4-8pm. My building doesn't allow to have deliveries after 5. Ok, I call the delivery- that say no can do- have to call IKEA to reschedule. Spending more than 1 hour, last night, waiting for the representative to pick up a phone, I gave up. So, after, finally spending another 40min, this morning, I was told that nothing can be done, and, if I want to reschedule the delivery, I have to travel to the store to do it. Seriously?!?! I'm paying money to deliver my stuff, and I have to go thru this....

IKEA Double Charging

I placed an order to be shipped. I placed only 1 order. Within days of the delivery arrival, a second, identical product arrived. I contacted IKEA about the order. They said that it was a mistake and would pick it right up. 3 weeks later it had not been picked up. I contacted them again and they said that there was an IKEA issue that caused the 2nd order to be shipped and my card to be charged twice. They also said that the charge that they quoted for a product pickup was incorrect. A plain case of no one knowing what is going on. My card got charged for a pickup fee. Today they told me that they would not refund the pickup fee that was charged because of their double-order mistake. That was from a supervisor. So the bottom line is that IKEA will double ship an item and charge you to have it picked up. AN IKEA RIPOFF!!!!!! I guess that I'll have to dispute the pickup charge and deal with that hassle.

UPDATE:

After many emails and phone calls, IKEA finally refunded the disputed charge. A lot of hassle for something that should have been done in the first place.
