ikea contoured neck pillow "RÖLLEKA" has horrible chemical smell. absolutely toxic.

paid $15.00- immediate strong odor and headache once the bag was opened. this is a copy cat of tempurpedic but tempurpedic does not smell at all. hoping this strong smell will dissipate. wow, my eyes are burning.

unbelievable. my neck hurts and i feel like i'm in a formaldehyde factory. seriously. i wonder if i'm getting cancer as i type.

what a waste of time and money going to ikea to buy this poisonous pillow. maybe i'll die in my sleep. if so, call ikea and get my $15.00 refund. LOL.

or sue them on my behalf.

hoping i'm not dead by morning. lol.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $15.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Location: East Palo Alto, California

Thank you. Just died of laughter LOL Today I purchased the DRAGVED pillow - you described my feelings exactly.

Believe you me, I am calling IKEA and complaining. Ho-ly Shiit!

I had the exact same problem. I developed a very bad sore throat when sleeping with this pillow.

I tested, and it was definitely the pillow causing this problem for me. If I stick my face into it and inhale, it gives me asthmatic symptoms. Freaky!

Too bad too, because I had high hopes for my first memory foam pillow. :-(

Oh my! I thought that it was just me regarding the smell of these pillows.

I washed them, sat them near an open window, and put baking soda inside and the smell is still there. I contacted ikea and they sent me the same pillows as replacements and they smell too.

Should have known these were too good to be true for 9 bucks a ***. Despite the smell and multiple pillowcases I have on the pillow it is actually pretty comfortable.

I brought this pillow yesterday. The instructions CLEARLY state to air out the factory smell befoe use.

I personally did not as I have had such a bad neck from the previous pillows I had, I just wanted to use it. It felt strange for the 1st hour or so but as the night went on and it moulded around my neck it felt amazing. For the first time this morning I have woken up pain free having slept without the usual tossing and turning trying to get my back and neck comfortable.

When I got home from work today I had a quick lay down on it and my head and neck mould is still there so I sunk right in. Looking forward to sleeping tonight rather than dreading it.

Absolutely agree. This sucker stinks.

Left it outside.

Washed the cover and it still gives me a headache to be near it. Makes me glad that I don't live in China where they make it!

The very instructions on the pillow packaging says that there is a factory smell which will dissipate after airing. Perhaps the original reviewer ought to spend their fifteen dollars on reading lessons instead of a pillow.

One complaint I might have about the pillow is that they are smaller than standard, so regular pillow cases will be too large for it, though IKEA themselves do sell the appropriately-sized pillow cases. In the end, not much to complain about considering the low price compared to alternatives.

We purchased the same pillow 2 weeks ago and had no smell. My wife loves it.

Gpod sleep is precious as you get older. Best $15 we have spent in a while.
