I planned to order approx $2500 worth of furnishings (sofa, chair, bed, mattress, etc) from Ikea Pittsburgh. I emailed them the order three weeks ahead of time so I could guarantee a specific delivery date. I got sucked into the "oh my God, it's European, and it's here in the USA so we've all got to own an Ikea product, because if you don't you are a nobody" frame of mind that has been going around. I returned some pieces of furniture to Ikea and the Customer Service Manager accused me of being a Photographer who used the furniture for props and then told me I could never return anything to Ikea for the rest of my life after this one return. I tried to return my mistress without a receipt and it took two trips to finally exchange. They wanted me to tell them last four digits of card number and exact date I purchases. I purchased a cream-coloured Adel kitchen ten years ago from IKEA Edinburgh,, UK and the plastic coating is now lifting off all of the doors. It was clearly never sealed properly onto the MDF in the first place. Joiners cannot thinks of any solution to this problem and unfortunately IKEA do not make the doors any more. I ordered a sofa and recliner on Boxing day. The delivery day was sent to me by email. It was for a Monday. So no one would be home between 8-5. I called IKEA asking them if they can deliver after. Ikea has a Refund Policy stated on the back of the Register Receipt written for Law School Graduates, not consumers. No wonder they would want to tell you what they will and won't do. Every modern store will refund your returns to the Credit Card used for the purchase without any hassles. - NOT Ikea.
